If somebody woulda told me 20 years ago that both The NY Times and the SPLC would burn all their credibility in politically-based lies, I would have had trouble believing it. /1
The NY Times lost all credibility when they hired Sarah Jeong and defended her racism. It’s hard to see any of their gratuitous firings seriously when they defend racism in their ranks. They clearly love racism, but use the concept as a hammer when they want to crush people. /2
The SPLC lied boldly to destroy Maajid Nawaz. He sued. They admitted guilt, apologized, and paid up. Their whole purpose is destroying political opponents, which is already a little questionable, but when they are willing to forfeit the truth for power they become evil. /3
And @FutebolSociali1 is right. The ACLU are soiling their reputation too. Which is a damn shame, because I also used to respect their steadfast fight for all people’s freedom of expression.
This satire was funny because there was a bit of truth to it./4 https://politics.theonion.com/aclu-defends-nazis-right-to-burn-down-aclu-headquarters-1819567187
