Basic Income is not about economics.

Basic Income is a legal method for the abolition of servitude. It is a political construct.

Money is a legal human rights document. It is not an economic device.
The idea that a human document of economic *rights* has an "economic function" turns the human into a cog of an economic machinery.

Humans are their own economy. We create because we want to. We have a right to create, own "economies." That's human life itself.
What we do when we are not enslaved by ourselves, by our own fears and ignorance, *is* the economy.

"The economy" that matters, that is efficient, is the natural, living outcome of enlightened, liberated humans.
Basic Income is any system that is a legally-backed political, social agreement that we are in this together, that a human being is meant to take care of the world and be taken care of by it. Trust the world and be trusted by it.

Unconditionally. Universally.
In a sense, Basic Income abolishes money as well. That money you knew is gone. It is replaced by a numeric document that represents the fact that a human being had to be taken care of at some point, and that it was taken care of the best it could when this token circulated.
UBI is not possible in the long term without a radical resignification of what we understand as "money."

I understood how a moneyless society is supposed to work *before* I understood UBI.

UBI is harder.
Basic Income does not "reform" capitalism. It abolishes the human drive to socially construct ideas of "scarcity" rooted in fear, which are the base of capitalist thinking, and the thinking of all preceding insane "modes of production" that preceded it.
If you want a "moneyless mode of production" to be the norm, you need to fix Wetigo: the cultural mental illness that drives us to value valueless devices whose sole purpose are to encoded and to enact our bondage to an imagined "economy" or other struggle.
Herein lies Bergoglio's spiritual call: we need to free humans from orbiting the fundamentalist, insane idea that we live to compete to build what is ultimately a planet devouring machine. Instead, we must bend our conventions, out systems, to serve us.
Our metrics are insane: the metrics of Wetigo-infected humans. We break record upon record of depression, war, suicide, ecocide, and we keep measuring the rate of objects we can generate. Because the objects grant social power to dominate other humans. Trade value.
"If it doesn't make a profit, you can't make it." That's absolutely insane.

The only way to fix that is to free humans from having to profit, to sell, to survive.
You abolish that need directly, by giving people money.

You do not ask "economics" questions before giving people that money, because "economics" has no business inquiring about the *universal and unconditional* liberation of people.
Money is a spiritual, sacred social construct. It represents a ritual that was performed many times in a society. It unifies every hand, every nation that has ever touched every unit of it.
The "economic" value of UBI money comes from the fact that it *always* symbolically grants people a relevant share of the underlying economy, and that it is NOT conditional to "economic performance."
So it is true. I actually discovered something that other people haven't.
I understand gender like few, and I understand money like few. Because all this shares the same foundation.

The foundation is psychological. The psychology of society.
The only way to *do it* is to *stop thinking about it* and *do it.*

If instead of paying UBI (distributing the document that says "you have your basic share") you ask whether "economics will really provide" or whether "humans will value the ritual of their own liberation"...
... then at that point you have lost. The cacophony is invited in, and everything freezes to a halt. The sociopaths and parasites get in, fear sets in, and everything devolves into the same level of madness that we are stuck in now.
By spiritual, I mean legally, culturally, and politically unifying. The declaration of human rights is spiritual in that sense.
Gender is difficult to explain to people -- most people do not technically understand it -- but it is easier to "perform", that is, to just live it, to just be yourself and let the descriptions catch up to you.

UBI is very similar.
Everything that asks permission to exist cannot grow.

If UBI is gatekeeped by economists, politicians, academics, etc instead of being served by them, then it's dead.

Just like when gender is gatekeeped by courts, psychologists, psychiatrists, politicians, crazy book writers.
That is why UBI can benefit massively from being performed "permissionless", by a growing independent and interdependent network of "crypto currencies" as "crypto UBI".

There's no magic here. It's just a basic technology for the implementation of transferable documents.
These documents alone are the external artifact that we can use to ritualize our new role for "currency." Instead of being a ritualization of fear, it becomes a ritualization, a faith that love is enough -- that we can believe that we will provide, that we will win.
We just need the technical systems. The paper, the token, the Body of Christ, the carrier symbol for the ritual. They are here. GoodDollar is the first one to scale, to be production ready, feature complete. It is ready to serve as a ritualization medium for "permissionless UBI."
Crypto UBI allows us to experiment with this new "gender of money," this queer construct that is an Universal Basic Income *system*: a "mode of production" that does not *care* about production. It cares about people. Amd when people care about each other *primarily...*
...because they believe, they love, they trust in the overall outcome of a world of love, then, my "economist" friends, my "political" friends, my "legal" friends, now you can grab your pens and papers and your equations and models, and apply them to a world without war.
Make that account. Really make it. What do your numbers tell you? I don't need any mathematical model to tell me that that world is incomparably more beautiful, more "productive", more "rich" than this one.
The "money" we are going to operate is not about economics. It is about legally, politically, culturally, valuing, respecting, and taking care of ourselves. It represents the coming society of reunion, a care-centered society.
And then, *those* humans will be economic. They will manifest the "economics" that they wish to manifest, aided by a political-legal system that is a social agreement that they and everybody else *is* taken care of.

That security is what produces sane economic activity.
We are just getting started. If you thought educating people about gender was difficult and that sort of activity attracted all sorts of crazy fascists, strap in.
Humans cannot be secured by *stuff*.

The fundamental security that humans seek is psychological, not physical.

That's how a warrior can sacrifice. Warriors are not all insane, no.
The more stuff you give to rich people, the more insecure and violent they get. The stuff is not what they are seeking.
The stuff is not what any of us is seeking.

What we are seeking is a world where we know we have each others' backs.

That if we are competing relentlessly, once someone is down, we stop the match and help them instead of eating them.
If we have each others' backs, then wherever there's a surplus, it is automatically (*unconditionally, universally*) transferred to where there's drought.
The belief that we HAVE to fixate on the stuff so much that we cannot let go of slavery and war and oppression and propaganda and coercion and the Profit Motive because that's what's making it work right now is precisely our insanity and our bondage.
At best, this fixation on absolutely maintaining capitalism and making sure it is undisturbed -- trying to change the world without changing ourselves or anything else radically -- is making the problem much harder to solve.
We let go of competition to death, of conditionality, of hopelessness, by letting go of it. There is no other way.

You can let go of it instantly, or you can do the roundabout way. The end result is the same. It's up to you how much difficulty you want to impose on yourself.
You cannot get to gender equality by way of the "material base" and you can't get to UBI through the "material base."

Boosting the material base is just going to give rich people more tools to oppress everybody faster and more efficiently.
