To minimize the impact Princess/General Leia has had on GENERATIONS of fans----not to mention the barriers Carrie Fisher broke as a writer, performer, and mental health advocate---shows a myopic view of that character. 1/
I believe it’s important to teach children that heroes can wear dresses, armor, or whatever they want to wear! Heroes can be tough, or vulnerable and emotionally transparent. Sometimes a hero might have muscles like a body builder, and sometimes the hero is a small child. 2/
Kids love seeing many different types of heroes onscreen. They also love learning about the actors who portray them. So if you’re lucky enough to be cast as a hero in a movie or tv show, what you proselytize matters. 3/
You know what takes the fun out of Star Wars? When one of the actors spreads hate and misinformation. I wonder if we've learned anything about that type of behavior from a galaxy far, far away? 🤔 /fin
