"Andrew Hussie would never do this to me."

I'm just looking back on homestuck 2 and just thinking

It was so good. It was *so* good.

I really just cannot wrap my head around how much hate there was for such a genuinely fun and interesting story.
And yes, it will be completed. No, the story isn't over. But I kinda feel like the watsonian experiment is. Ultimate Dirk tried to bring back homestuck from Nostalgia Hell to keep the characters "alive" in an exciting new medium. The Epilogues were an invitation to a new age.
Homestuck^2 was supposed to be the new upd8 culture. The new month to month excitement. A bunch of fandom luminaries in one place creating a cool new saga. Homestuck WASN'T dead! But when it finally does get released, I think that will be it. The experiment failed.

It sucks.
I think a lot about "nostalgia hell." When Pokemon Go came out in 2016, the news said "remember Pokemon? It's back in a big way!" ignoring how it never went away in the first place. Yet The Simpsons has been on since before *I* was born, and nobody assumes it's going away, ever.
It's bizarre to me how some things are considered to be frozen in time, like Pokemon frozen in 1998 and Homestuck frozen in 2012, versus something like The Simpsons which gets to stay long past its welcome. (The character archetypes are increasingly more and more dated.)
And why, exactly, do we want something like The Simpsons, or Mickey Mouse, or Bugs Bunny, or Aladdin or Elsa to stick around forever, but not Dave and Karkat? Frozen was also big around 2013, and I don't remember that much outrage re: Frozen 2 in 2019?
Idk. I'm sure some person out there has a snarky rebuttal about how im stupid and dont get it and honestly, I'll admit it.

I don't really get it. I don't.

I liked hs2. I thought it was good. I thought it was a fun experiment. And I don't think homestuck needed to stay dead.
oh side note: arbys dirk is a dirk splinter
