WARRIORS-MAGIC REWATCH THREAD
This was a fun game to watch and see all the details and nuances within each possession. Can't wait to go in depth with some of them.
Stephen Curry had a great night offensively, but on defense he was jumping passing lanes and getting deflections.

On this SLOB, Warriors run a simple downscreen for Curry running from the baseline and making the zipper cut. Curry's defender actually does a good job of getting over the screen and contesting, but nothing you can do when Curry makes the tough shot.
This is excellent defense from Draymond Green, but credit must also go to Damion Lee, who rotates over to the roller and cuts him off from being a possible recipient of a drop pass.
Tale as old as time: Curry gets doubled off the downscreen, leaving the screener open. That screener happened to be Mychal Mulder, who is shooting 44.1% on 3s this year.
Interesting set for Kelly Oubre. He starts off from the baseline (near the dunker spot) and gets 2 downscreens, zipper cuts to the top, and gets a wide-open 3 that goes in.
Warriors run "head tap" out of Horns, basically making this HORNS flex action. Curry sets the cross screen for Lee to make a flex cut along the baseline, and then gets a downscreen himself. Defender does a good job of sticking to Curry, but better offense from Curry.
Draymond with excellent defense again. Switches onto the ball handler off the DHO and stays mostly vertical on the contest. That had no chance of going in.
This is the modified, multi-layered split action the Warriors have been running as of late.
Split action has been around for so long that teams know when the Warriors are about to run it. So Kerr put some modifications to disguise it.

Oh, just a downscreen for Curry in transition. So hard to defend because both defenders involved in the action have to be 100% aware of it.
Perhaps the most promising sequence in the game.
Curry relocates to the corner, gets a pin-in screen from Wiggins, and -- yes, I kid you not -- Oubre immediately looks for Curry on the relocation.
Change is real, folks.

Warriors run head tap/HORNS Flex again, but Curry's zipper cut is denied by an overplay. So they improvise, going into DHO action between Curry and Draymond. Curry gets doubled, so short-roll Draymond is activated. A 3-on-2 situation occurs, Mulder with the smart cut and dunk.
The Magic are so worried about Curry when he does his dribbling exhibition that he ends up drawing 3 defenders. W/ Draymond as the release valve, that forces the lone weak-side defender to rotate over, and Draymond, as perceptive as ever, swings it to the open corner.
Magic double Curry off the Draymond screen, but Vucevic doesn't show out enough to put pressure on Curry, who easily turns the corner around Vucevic for the layup.
Until I see someone else do it consistently, I maintain that Draymond Green is the best fake hand-off man in the league.
What I like to call the two-way 1-2 punch: Draymond w/ the excellent post defense on Vucevic, and Curry w/ the stepback-3 on the other end.
Defending Steph Curry must be one of the most miserable things an opposing team can experience. I mean... lol
This is the Warriors' favorite end-of-quarter set play. Lee goes over to set a ballscreen up top, but it's merely a decoy for the real action: a downscreen for Curry that draws two defenders, as usual. Draymond, the screen setter, slips the screen and gets the easy dunk.
. @LetsGoWarriors' resident Xs-and-Os guru @EricApricot broke this play down recently. It was something they loved to run for Klay Thompson. Go check it out! https://twitter.com/EricApricot/status/1359601276762267648
Curry sniffs out the entry pass to Vucevic and gets a wiiiide open 3 on the other end.
Peep at JTA celebrating like hell cuz he knows it's going in for sure lol

Curry sets a backscreen for the inbounder (Wiggins). The backcut forces the Magic to double Wiggins underneath, leaving JTA alone on the perimeter to cut inside.
Magic are fond of setting cross screens to get Vucevic nice low-post position. The Warriors use that to their advantage.
Draymond doesn't guard Vucevic right away; instead, he takes the one who's going to set the screen so that he can make the no-brainer switch. Really smart.

Lesson on this play: Never ever turn your back on Steph Curry.
Curry jumps the passing lane again and gets a steal, leading to an Oubre dunk on the break.
Draymond with the excellent close-out and contest that leads to a block.
And to finish, some JTA goodness.
That's a wrap!
