1. One day we’ll all realize that fame is more of a curse than a gift. We’ll realize that the human constitution wasn’t built for “fame” & can’t withstand its weight. There are those who don’t want fame & get it, those who desire it & regret it, and those who want it to abuse it.
2. However a person comes to fame, it carries with it the capacity to destroy all. It destroys the initially well meaning, it destroys the ambitious, & it destroys the narcissist. The sooner we realize the cancer fame can be the quicker we’ll stop thrusting it on people.
3. “Fame” is not always avoidable when someone is seeking to merely be faithful in their gifts. The reality is that there are certain people w/ certain gifts that are treasured beyond local contexts. The dangers of fame are found more in how humans process it than in it itself.
4. What is the danger of fame?

To be famous can mean to be known by all, & yet KNOWN by none. To be loved by all, yet LOVED by none. To be praised by all, yet endeared by none. Fame has potential to create a reality where a person connected to all & yet dwell in isolation.
5. Fame can create a false reality where everyone believes they know you & yet no one truly does. This dynamic can be a nightmare for the sincere & like lottery ticket for a narcissist. Broadly Influential people need desperately to be anchored in healthy relationships.
6. That’s where things get weird, b/c the most healthy “famous” people are those who don’t live in the false reality fame creates. They are people who in many ways live a personal life that is an escape from it. Those who love their fame are those who’ll be devoured from it.
7. Healthy people who also have a degree of fame will always struggle with the dynamics of fame, but healthy relationships can hard them against its isolation.

They can be known by all, & yet KNOWN by some. Loved by all, yet LOVED by some. Praised by all, but TREASURED by some. https://twitter.com/kylejameshoward/status/1360101132509597696
8. I hope it’s clear that the “by all” is the false reality. Doesn’t matter how famous a person is; they aren’t truly known, loved, or praised/affirmed by everyone... & people are fickle. The danger is getting caught up in the lie & TRULY living in isolation fully disconnnected.
