@pareshmukh gave a Micro SaaS 101 session on #SastaClubhouse by @BehereBaba!
So of course, it's practically mandatory for me to write a thread about it.
Here it comes

Don't build for the nerds.
Nerds are smart and if you look at hacker news, for every product they'll say that I can get this done in < 2hrs yada yada
So they are not your audience. You solve problems for regular people who take hours upon hours to solve that problem.

Give Clear ROIs
Products can be either must-have or nice-to-have and it's hard to quantify the value provided and time saved for the latter.
So build must-have products, that a user can easily explain it to the business owner.
Ex: This product saves me 3hrs every day.

Feel Free to Copy!
No Idea is unique. Someone has had the same idea and has already built a product for it. So you must either:
- Check if it's overpriced?
- See if you can increase ROI? (save time / give value)
Then just copy it and people will pay for the extra value.

No Network Effects!
Most Micro SaaS products don't have it, because the value for an individual doesn't increase with the user count of the product.
ex: FB's value increases as more people join, because more groups, more engagement. While Asana's doesn't.

Build a Killer Referral Program!
When @pareshmukh increased the product's price, many people complained but he converted it into an opportunity by offering a referral program.
Ex: Refer 3 users & save $12/mo forever. Refer 5 & keep the product free forever till they stay!

Build for Marketplaces
Marketplaces such as Slack, HubSpot, Zoom, etc can act as an organic growth channel. ie: customers can directly find your products through the marketplace.
Build for marketplaces that are dev friendly. Otherwise, your product will break like Fruition.

Find a "Coder" Friend
If you are not from a programming background, it's best to partner up with a friend who does, because NoCode in many "niche" cases might not be enough to get the MVP out.
It will certainly help you launch faster and test the waters.

Maintain an Idea List
Micro SaaS ideas are a dime a dozen. You don't know how they'll play out until you do the research and try them out.
So whenever you have an Idea, put it into your list and get back to it as and when you feel like it. Don't lose that idea factory!

When @pareshmukh told the audience "Don't build for nerds"
You should have seen @BehereBaba's reaction, he literally built a product called "Reading Stats 4 Nerds"
Aditya shared his journey with that product and validated "must-have" product hypothesis
