Before I sleep, first thoughts. To all the people who have ever asked me what it’s like to be Jewish, read #jewsdontcount by @Baddiel. It’s complex and layered and very difficult for someone like me to explain in such a clear and concise way. David does an excellent job.
Having this lived experience for the most part of 50 years it doesn’t feel like I have the privilege I have been told I have. At school I lived in fear of being beaten up because I am Jewish. I don’t think privilege means I have to have a plan to leave...
... if AS gets any more out of hand. Having said that my history proves that my family were forced to leave Ukraine, Latvia and Poland for just that reason. Why should we be any different?
This is what a lifetime of AS will do to one person. Can you understand what it does to a community? This is an every day lived experience.
You must read @Baddiel’s book if you believe you want to learn more about our lived experience. More importantly if you don’t think you need to read #jewsdontcount then you’re exactly the ones who should. I have to sleep now, I have re-reading to do tomorrow.
