This is what the barracks looked like when I was at boot camp at the Nonsan ROK Army Training Center. But this picture looks new. The floor wasn't tiled when I was there. It was just uneven slabs of concrete.
This is literally how we hung our laundry at the Army Training Center. All of us slept lying right next to each other - just inches away. If you were assigned a locker right next to a snorer, well, good luck.
And the Army Training Center that I was assigned to was the nicest training center in the country. There are smaller and older ones dotted around the provinces, and they look like this. The floor is wet because water was deliberately thrown on the floor to humidify the room.
In some of the really old barracks (these were used specifically for training purposes), there were easily more than 50 soldiers that called the place home.
