one artistic pet peeve i have is: artistic depictions of biblical angels. there's this trend of drawing/depicting all biblical angels/seraphim as being many eyed wheels of fire, but if you actually looked it up, those depictions dont even belong to the seraphim!!!

the hierarchy of angels actually depict the ophanim, or the thrones, as being chariot wheels covered in fire. seraphs are said to be serpentine and the "burning ones" and the cherubim are said to be 4-faced with wings covered in eyes. plus the lower you go in the hierarchy,

the more human the depictions of angels become. the lowest depictions that are said to be most concerned with the issues of man (including archangels) are all depicted as resembling plain ass humans with wings.

and i say all this bc i find this cool as fuck!!! if actual research was done, you'd all see how the actual depictions are so much cooler and freakier than some blanket assumption of what the internet told you they were.

ANYWAY. thats my daily onion. im currently working on a person project where i design my own depictions of each tier of the hierarchy of angels. but yall will have to wait for that
