Yesterday, I asked the @ANAO_Australia to consider investigating @PeterDutton_MP’s #saferseatsrorts scandal.

1. Schools, churches local govts & other groups from across applied for community safety grants from @ScottMorrisonMP and @PeterDutton_MP to keep their communities safe

Grant applications take a lot of time - many groups spent days carefully preparing their applications

2. Community safety experts from the Dept of Home Affairs then carefully assessed these applications & told @PeterDutton_MP what communities were most at risk & needed help

Communities wanted to buy things like CCTV cameras, build security fences to keep them safe

3. FOI documents reveal @PeterDutton_MP rejected his safety experts & made himself Captain Safe Seats

He reduced funding for 19 communities that safety experts told him to fund

And cherry-picked 53 other projects that he wanted to fund.

3. When Captain Safe Seats was finished...

91% of the community safety funds was going into Govt or marginal seats

Perhaps @ScottMorrisonMP gave @PeterDutton_MP a big for this #SaferSeatsRorts effort

4. Captain Safe Seats even made sure that he chose two projects to be funded in his own electorate

I’m sure these projects in @PeterDutton_MP’s electorate welcome this taxpayers’ funding.

But, what communities missed out because the Minister rejected safety expert advice?

5. In the lead up to the Braddon by-election, Captain Safe Seats was at it again.

@PeterDutton_MP announced two #SaferSeatsRorts grants before the grant guidelines had even been written - or without any advice from his own community safety experts

6. When the community safety experts in the Dept of Home Affairs told Captain Safe Seats that these Braddon by-election projects should not be funded, @PeterDutton_MP ignore them and decided to fund them anyway.

7. In amongst all of this, @abc730 have reported that Captain Safe Seats provided a one-off discretionary grant to an organisation one week after that organisation made a donation to the Liberal-National Party in support of @PeterDutton_MP

8. Given former Minister @senbmckenzie resigned after she breached Ministerial Standards for failing to disclose a conflict of interest with an organisation to which she awarded a grant, @PeterDutton_MP's actions raise questions if a similar breach has occurred.

9. Australians know that @ScottMorrisonMP runs from accountability.

He cut the @ANAO_Australia funding after the Auditor-General revealed the depths of the #SportsRorts scandal. 

He promised a national integrity commission more than two years ago and he has not delivered it.

10. Aussies deserve to know whether their community missed out on needed safety equipment, like CCTV cameras, & are less safe today because of Captain Safe Seats pre-election #SaferSeatsRorts wheeling & dealing

@PeterDutton_MP’s actions need to be investigated
