Lawyer friends: how many law schools did you apply to? I’m not sure how many is “typical” 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
* this tweet is also for my 1L-3L etc friends!!!
Holy law Twitter you all really showed up for me. I appreciate all of the responses, truly. They are so helpful for this first gen hopeful law student. Here is a bit more about my situation that I welcome input on (hopefully I don’t regret saying this) cont:
I am a non traditional student. Dropped out of undergrad with not great grades from 2011-2014. Went back last year to finish the last of my undergrad. My GPA has and hopefully will continue to be great. I haven’t taken the LSAT yet, but I’m notoriously bad at standardized
tests, likely due to specific learning disabilities. I’ll be ~29 when beginning law school. Finances are the biggest deciding factor, more so than ranking. Me and my partner currently live in Phoenix and I’m hoping to get into ASU with good scholarship so he won’t have to uproot
his life for me to begin law school. If I get enough scholarship somewhere else to justify moving, we will. We would be happy to live in CA, OR, or WA and so I plan on applying in those states. I plan on applying to a couple of top tier schools just to see what I’m capable of,
but likely will not go even if admitted due to cost. I’m tentatively planning on which schools to apply to while I study for the LSAT now (taking for the first time this fall) so I can have a better understanding of my goal score not only for admittance but for scholarship,
since that is the largest deciding factor in all of this. I appreciate all of the helpful responses and welcome any further assistance. Not only am I a first gen law student, but essentially a first gen (prospective) college grad. I’m “non traditional” in the sense that I’m
approaching my 30’s and cannot simply go to the best school I may get into with no concern for location or cost. Thank you for your input and I welcome any more!
