This is a new low for democracy. Elected officials saying things that are flat out wrong ("the GOA guarantees your pension!") or injurious to taxpayers ("the GOA assumes all unfunded liabilities!). #handsoffmypension #AbLeg
The MLAs have corrected their press lines, but not (to my knowledge) issued any retractions.
So to clarify: AIMCO broke off negotiations in November.
AIMCO is insisting on the clause that does not give ATRF full decision making control.

So to further clarify: the Ministerial Order was not required because ATRF could have continued to manage the assets as they have (very successfully) for the last 80 years. #AbLeg #handsoffmypension

Any changes to the teachers' and central office staff's pension plan deserve a careful review with both stakeholders (see IMCO in ON for example). That is unless you are a mini-MAGA authoritarian.
One of the criticisms of @jkenney is that a large number of his senior staff came from elsewhere. That is certainly the problem we are dealing with here. Treasury Board and Finance DM (Athana) was brought in from BC. Senior staff need to know Alberta. #AbLeg
It is my evaluation that not knowing AB has caused the problem we now have with ATRF. (Well, that and Travis' bread in the bone hatred of unions). The pair of them bought into a slick sell job from AIMCO. #AbLeg
Athana and Travis should both be embarrassed at making backbench MLAs look like fools to their constituents.
