Alberta’s post-secondary institutions are very dear to me. I have spent 2 decades learning, teaching, and working at @UAlberta. It changed my world, and has shaped the lives of so many students like me. 1/ #stopPSEcuts #abpse
Alberta’s post-secondaries have produced cutting-edge medical, scientific, and humanties research, attracted newcomers from around the world to our province, and offered a meaningful and relevant education to our local students. 2/ #stopPSEcuts #abpse
Post-secondary education drives learning and creative activity in our province, and drives significant economic growth and diversification. Short-sighted cuts and attempts to centre jobs above all else will stunt us for generations. 3/ #stopPSEcuts #abpse
Your children deserve the best classes, with active and engaged instructors, in clean and well-maintained spaces. They deserve investment in lowered tuition and expanded grant supports. They deserve attention and feedback from faculty who are not strained beyond their limits. 4/
My colleagues deserve support for their research. They deserve recognition as contributors to out province. They deserve safe working conditions and secure employment. 5/ #stopPSEcuts #abpse
The strip-mining attitude of some of today’s political and administrative leaders is not sustainable. If you think @UAlberta and other institutions should still be standing in 5, 10 years, then we have to #stopPSEcuts NOW. /6
