We're probably going to see more films like Judas and The Black Messiah, because there is a project among the Black upper-class to recast Black revolutionaries as leaders of a self-esteem movement, so they can position themselves as the inheritors of the Panther's legacy.
It's important that we preserve their legacy as one that was decisively anti-imperialist, anti-capitalist,, Marxist-Leninist, Black nationalist and pro-worker. It was this perspective that gave them the organizational methods that made them strong and capable of challenging power
They weren’t targeted and killed because they were giving us self-esteem, so we could become exploiters ourselves. They were targeted and killed because they had a method to destroy the social relations that constitute oppression and exploitation. That’s why they were a threat.
