If as a Professor, I was angry at the University Administration, and spent a semester riling up students about how the Administration was harming them. Charging them too much. Ripping them off. Stealing their diplomas.
And then at the end of the semester, knowing the Administrators were all meeting at another building on Campus, I told the students to walk down to that building and that I would come with them, and that they needed to let their voices be heard.
If instead of following them, I went back to my office or my car, and heard on the radio or saw tweets that instead of a peaceful protest, my students were being violent at the Administration building.
I would contact them immediately and tell them to stop.
I would contact them immediately and tell them to stop.
That violence was not the answer. I told them to let their voices be heard, not to storm the Administration building, not to be violent against the campus police, not to chant about hangings or assassinating anyone.
I would feel horrible if they were violent. I would want to do whatever I could do to stop them. If they thought I led them to the violence, then I would want to quickly lead them away from it.
I think that would be the response of any decent person.

Upon hearing that the terrorists had taken over the Capitol and wanted to hang VP Pence and assassinate Speaker Pelosi, Trump did nothing.
When he finally issued a tweet, he praised the terrorists & their actions
He said they were special. That he loved them.
