How I Found My Life's Purpose:

I doubt that many of us will know explicitly what we're supposed to do for the rest of our lives. Some of us are still on that path of discovery.
We try to find it in different places. In things, in people, at the end of a bottle or in the plethora of pleasures.
Not all of us will know what we believe is our purpose here on earth from a young age. Most of us will spend our lives on that path. My story is a bit similar.
In 2012 I'd just finished a 9 month internship program in the company of my dreams. At the time it was one of the most prestigious IT companies to work in. I moved heaven and earth to get into the org.
Like most orgs in Abuja, you'll need to know someone that knows someone to get you into the door. But I knew no one yet still got the internship when I applied (that's the short version). I quickly learned everything I was taught and was bounced around departments. I loved it.
I was gaining first-hand experience of what it was like to work in an org and work in an IT firm. I met lots of interesting people. It seemed great. I loved where I worked and had developed a great relationship with the staff of the company.
They asked me to come back and do my NYSC with http://them.In  other words, I was being promised a job. Cause once you're guaranteed to serve with them then you're most likely going to get a full time job with them.
I started having second thoughts when I noticed a lot of the senior management, despite their wealth, weren't always happy. Until that time I always thought that joy/happiness was a by-product of being wealthy. I had an existential crisis after that.
I had a lot of questions; what then is the purpose of life? how can one be wealthy and not joyful?

These questions haunted me till I eventually lost all interest for coming back to work for them. But I shifted gears and started a journey in search of joy.
What's man's purpose here on earth? What's MY purpose here on earth? How can I fill my life with joy? Not transient happiness.

I found John Piper's sermon on Enjoying God. 'twas then I started the journey to finding joy in my Creator. Finding Joy in God.
We often tie our identities to things, people, jobs. These things are transient. They come and go and cannot fill the longing we have in our hearts.
C.S. Lewis says, "If I find in myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world."
I found my purpose when I found joy. I think for anyone looking to find theirs' they should start by looking to our Maker. Crazy thing is you'll find that He's the One that's been seeking you.
