Got caught up with some news coverage this AM, but as promised, here's a long thread with the rest of the info I picked up from @BellevilleSens Coach Troy Mann yesterday, as the club prepares to open its 4th @TheAHL season in Montreal tomorrow.

1⃣On making roster decisions under the current circumstances:

There’s been a couple easy ones with some quarantines that needed to take place (on arrivals) and injuries of that nature, but there are a couple decisions. (1/2)
I think we have three legitimate decisions to make Friday, but we’re going to do our best to get those players in on Saturday afternoon and then we’ll go from there for Tuesday. We can see who played well, who didn’t, where the Sens are at, and any potential injuries. (2/2)
2⃣Who's on the bubble?:

Well, you’ve got a number of young players like Kastelic, Reinhardt and Magwood. Players of this nature that need to not necessarily bide their time, but to prove themselves initially before you can make decisions to have them in the lineup. (1/3)
Whereas a guy like Logan Shaw is naturally going to be in the lineup on Friday night, those decisions are easy. The biggest decision for us going into Friday is defence. We have seven right now and a number of guys on AHL contracts. (2/3)
Colby Williams is our seventh going into Friday but is certainly very capable and can play regular minutes in the AHL. But up front we’re dealing with a lot of young, first-year players that will get an opportunity to prove themselves, but they’ve got to earn it right now. (3/3)
3️⃣ Goalie plans to start the season:

We’re going to start Daccord on Friday night. It’s been almost a year since his last game in Cleveland when he got hurt, so you’re talking about practically a year since he’s played a meaningful hockey game. (1/2)
It makes no sense to go back-to-back with an afternoon game Saturday, so with Gustavsson on the taxi squad Mandolese would play. Then we’ll sit down and re-evaluate. Mandolese is obviously a 1st year guy and will get his starts, but we have to get Daccord playing games. (2/2)
4⃣On waiting to name a captain:

With a short season we might just go with three assistant captains. Ever since I’ve been a head coach, I’ve put together a leadership group of 5-to-7 players and I’ve met with them a few times over the last week or so, with the six of them. (1/3)
Three of those will wear As Friday night and the other three, whether its injuries or call-ups, those guys could see letters as well. I’ve always been a big believer in a leadership group, so just because a guy isn’t wearing a letter, doesn’t mean he’s not part of that. (2/3)
Much like last year where we started with three As before we named Jordan Szwarz Captain, this year we’ll start with three As and if someone is standing out, maybe we do name a C, but with such a short season maybe we just stick with three alternate captains. (3/3)
5⃣More on the leadership group:

I’ve got a leadership group of Cody Goloubef, Logan Shaw, Hubie Labrie, Jack Dougherty, Cole Cassels and Joseph LaBate. A lot of those guys are mainstays and all of those guys I’ve coached before. (1/2)
Except for Logan Shaw, who stood out as soon as we split from NHL camp. You can tell he’s got a lot of leadership qualities that you like, so those are the guys that we sat down with to discuss what we’re looking for and how we’re handling things, which isn’t easy. (2/2)
6⃣On the playing plan for @bdnwheatkings fwd Ridly Greig:

He’ll play every game until we’re told. There’s been no discussion this week in terms of a plan for the WHL and the Brandon Wheat Kings in particular, so as far as I’m concerned he’s part of the team right now. (1/2)
Until I get a call from management saying that he’s leaving, he’ll be part of our team and put in a situation to succeed starting Friday night. (2/2)
7⃣Final thoughts on where the team wants to play, with an Ontario Government decision looming:

From a logistics and set up perspective, I've said it before, Belleville is fantastic and a great rink, so if it’s Belleville we’d welcome that as a group. (2/2)
But we want to play hockey and we want to play games so, if they make the decision that it’s Ottawa, we’ll make it work. Like you, I’ve heard that a decision is coming soon, and it’s been positive news it’s just a matter of where so hopefully we’ll find out soon. (2/2)
