Your content (on Instagram more specifically) is limited from the moment you post.

The less engaging the post, the less likely you will gain the reach you need to bring in more engagement.

Average engagement rate for someone with 15K followers is 2-3%. https://twitter.com/whatuplakerss/status/1359912581926944773
These days, it’s common to see someone average 200-500 likes with 15K followers.

Nothing to be ashamed about. 🙇🏽‍♀️
The only reason I responded to this tweet is because whenever EYE see something on my TL in regards to insights/analytics for social platforms, I respond to educate MY followers, since they can see what I respond to.

Not to argue with someone else.
Generalizations are harmful to creators who are at the mercy of the algorithm. You can’t force the algorithm to behave the way you want to.

However, you can learn how your content performs & use that knowledge to not only boost your engagement, but create better content.
I have 24K followers & some content averages 300 likes while other content averages 1K likes. I didn’t have to buy followers.

I simply have content that is better & my audience has a preference. I post what I want, they like what they want.
This happens quite often for creators, as opposed to regular IG users with followers that know them personally or through the grapevine.

Anyone with less than 10K followers naturally has better engagement, which is why brands are pushing more to work with them.
the topic of “buying followers” esp. in the creator space is a lot more nuanced than simply having what people would deem “low likes.”

This conversation involves discussing the IG API & their security, the companies selling follower/likes, the people buying them, etc.
And that conversation, most people aren’t ready to have because they literally have nooooo idea what this looks like on the other side.
But, my intentions are always good & whether people like it or not, my LITERAL JOB is to educate people on social media data, insights & analytics.
Also, this chart is from 2017 so it’s outdated, but the stats are still relevant to a certain extent.

If you are a creator with more than 10K followers & you’re averaging less than 1K likes, please know that will not stop a brand from paying you 4+ figures for a campaign
