I have a lot of complicated thoughts on what's been happening at DualShockers. So many of us grinded at that site for years for very little pay. We all knew it would likely never turn into a career but we wanted to make it a place that we were proud of. And I think we did that.
What sucks about what's happening is that the brand, tone, and direction of the site that we spent so long building up has basically come crashing down in weeks. The site was purchased with no regard for what it was before. The new group wanted the name and nothing else.
That website was a very personal place to most of us and it was also filled with a ton of talent. As the person who edited a vast majority of what has come out of there the past few years, it's staggering how many incredible writers have came through during my tenure.
So yeah, if you're in the games writing business, you'd be smart to pick up a lot of these people that are leaving. That being said, please do not direct any anger at the site's current iteration to the writers still on staff. What's happening falls to ownership.
I'm greatly bummed to see that DualShockers has gone this way but I can't say enough good things about everyone I worked with over the years. If you're looking for a personal recommendation for any of the staff looking for new homes, feel free to DM or email me.
