I realised today that so much working from home appears to be having an impact on my work memory. I have a really visual memory (I literally play back things in my mind like video to remember them).
I remember things that I’ve read partly by what the book and the words on the page looked like, and I’m normally more likely to remember where I was when I read it than plot details, for e.g.
So at work when I’m trying to remember what was discussed, agreed during meetings and calls my mind tries to recall cues like the meeting room, where people sat etc. And now all meetings are same room, same format, can’t see what ppl are wearing, everyone’s in the same position.
It’s all merging into one! Cant tell you what happened in meetings last week unless I took copious notes (or something made them especially memorable). And with multiple meetings with repeating/overlapping cast members every day it just gets worse.
I suppose running on limited stores of resilience and general lockdown twitchiness doesn’t help either. Anyway. That was just interesting to have suddenly realised.
