Stop letting doubts dictate your actions and emotions.

Learn How You Can Overcome Doubt

[THREAD]
If someone tells you not to think about a purple elephant, what’s the first thing you do?

If you’re like most people, you immediately start to picture one. We can’t help it; it’s just the way we’re wired.

But wouldn’t it be great to reframe our way of thinking?
Doubt is like a purple elephant. It can take over until it’s the only thing you can think about, becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

That’s why I wrote Learning to Live with Purple Elephants: How You Can Overcome Doubt.
When we were cavemen, anxiety and doubt could save our lives.

But we’re not cavemen anymore, and the fight or flight response can cause doubt and anxiety. So how do we tackle it?
Instead of trying not to think about a purple elephant, try focussing instead on a red giraffe.

Notice how it gets rid of the thoughts about the elephant.
Dealing with doubt is the same.

We need to stop fighting it and learn to accept it while persevering through them if the rewards are worth it.
There’s a big difference between self-doubt and the doubt of others. Ask yourself where the doubt is coming from and whether it’s founded. And if people doubt you, prove them wrong!
Of course, there’s plenty more to learn about tackling doubt, imposter’s syndrome, and anxiety, so be sure to check out my book for more examples.
How you treat doubt is mostly dependent on your character and essential behavioral characteristics.

Overcoming doubt takes a level of inner strength and emotional
bravery, which we all possess, but many of us are yet to explore.
