thinking about power dynamics in relationships and how we all know certain relationships are taboo because of the power differential but how we don’t talk nearly enough about what a condemnation this is of heterosexuality in a misogynistic culture
are the hets OK?

almost never, no, they were doomed from the start
and what does this mean about systems like Mormonism, which venerate heterosexuality to near the point of idolatry? does that mean the system, itself, is more blind abuse because it not only accepts a power differential in the ideal relationship, but encourages it?
furthermore, to what degree is toxic masculinity embedded in this mismatch of power?

anger, for example, is most productive when channeled into action. but only people with ~power can act

is this why men can be angry and women can’t?

& what about the emotions men CAN’T have
if a man has to have a wife in order to experience the “softer” emotions, is it because this solidifies the unequal power?

is EVERYTHING about keeping white cishet men in power?
it’s difficult to articulate the degree to which my entire life changed when I came out

on the one hand, you are utterly marginalized and, to a degree, powerless

on the other, none of these systems of power apply to you anymore and I cannot tell you the WEIGHT that lifted
