/8 What’s Clubhouse, you ask? Here is a short #clubhouseprimer for my healthcare friends who are curious. @somedocs @AMWADoctors @womeninmedchat @WomenSurgeons @_NancyMD @RakheeBhayaniMD @DrMStiegler @PLudmerMD
/8 #clubhouseprimer Clubhouse is a new social media app currently in beta mode. You need an invite from someone else to join. Invites are texted to your cell phone, only accessible on iOS devices right now.
/8 #clubhouseprimer Clubhouse is all audio and all live. There is no video, no messaging, no images, and nothing permanent. Once a room ends, it’s gone! Messaging between users is through Twitter or Instagram.
/8 #clubhouseprimer Clubhouse has “rooms” and “clubs”. A room is a real-time gathering hosted by moderators (shown in app by ✳️). The audience is separated into those invited to “the stage” who can speak and the rest, who are in listen only mode.
/8 #clubhouseprimer Rooms can be on any topic and can be run anyway the moderator wants. 2 common styles: Q&A style - ask the experts and Open mic - group discussion. There are even silent workspace rooms.
/8 #clubhouseprimer Anyone can host (moderate) their own room. Just open a room and invite your friends. (It helps to learn clubhouse etiquette and navigation first though).
/8 #clubhouseprimer Clubhouse Clubs are loosely organized special interest groups. For example, Virtual Grand Rounds club hosts rooms with medical content. VGR was started by awesome med student @noorsrai
/8 #clubhouseprimer If you like unscripted engagement with real people in real-time (and don’t want to brush your hair), that’s clubhouse. You can learn, teach, connect, engage. And if you don’t like a room, you can leave quietly✌️
