Monitoring the DHEC board meeting where the focus is expected to be on vaccine distribution throughout the state. I'll put any significant updates into a thread beginning here.
So far, the new DHEC leader has said disparities have begun to emerge in vaccinations. He didn't elaborate.
We are waiting for DHEC to begin releasing demographic data. The agency has slow-walked publishing info while working on a visual dashboard.

DHEC is working on a plan for the Johnson&Johnson vaccine. Again, no more details than that.
FDA expected to approve the vaccine on February 26.

DHEC board member notes that SC is honing in on about 50% of the population getting vaccinated -- a number we've reported before -- and that it isn't enough.
Says the agency and lawmakers have to start stressing that 70% need vaccinations or masks don't go away. @wpdeabc15

Dr. Michael Kacka said the Johnson&Johnson vaccine's efficacy against COVID-19 variants appears to rise over time -- so it's more effective months after the shot than days. That's good news.
DHEC's Nick Davidson says the lower Moderna utilization rate is due to small pharmacy providers keeping a stockpile so they don't have to make hundreds of calls postponing appointments in case a shipment is late.
Some vaccine shipments may be delayed again this week, Davidson says. A result of last week's weather and shipping delays carrying over.
Davidson says current estimates place the end of Phase 1A eight weeks from now. That's the week of April 5.
Here's how vaccines would be distributed under the proposed model vs. a sample week from the past. Allocations change wildly week to week right now, so don't put too much stock into those numbers. Part of the reason consistency is needed.
DHEC notes that people are driving from cities to rural counties to get vaccinated.
Here's where people have been vaccinated by patient address. DHEC notes that there may be errors in the data here and there.
Here is the first-ever look at where vaccinations have happened, by county. Three things to consider:
1. This includes first and second doses.
2. The initial doses focused on healthcare workers, who tend to be in urban areas.
3. Early data. May contain errors.

Tiny McCormick County, in dark blue, just completed a major vaccination event.
Forgot to mention the data is per capita.
DHEC has deferred any votes on their proposed vaccine allocation plan. They want to explore a plan that would allocate doses by region instead of by county.
