One of the many horrors of the pandemic is it's become all about numbers. Perversely, the more deaths, the harder it is to visualise each victim as a human being.
So here's Maureen and Colin (here with my mum), married for so long, who died within a couple of weeks of each other

Maureen was my late dad's cousin (here they are!) and because he was an only child, she was something of a sister to him and he loved her very much.
They were both wonderful people - I last saw Maureen at my dad's funeral in 2018 and she was as kind and lovely as ever.

Here they are with my dad and siblings (alas I'm out of shot in the blue jumper) back in the 1980s.
For Maureen and Colin's children and grandchildren, it's obviously devastating to lose both at the same time.

All my thoughts and love to the hundreds of thousands who have lost relatives and loved ones during this terrible period of our history x
