Obviously the people howling for Gina Carano's scalp have no principled objection to comparing modern political trends with Hitler or the Holocaust - THEY do it ALL THE TIME. They are never criticized or censured for going overboard, trivializing the Holocaust, etc.

The real issue is that almost a century later, the Left is still hysterically obsessed with painting Nazism as "right-wing" ideology. They erupt into gibbering neurotic fits when anyone points out that fascism was originally seen as a form of socialism and allied with communism.

This is one of the big reasons why lefties PERPETUALLY invoke Nazi and Holocaust metaphors - they scarcely give it a second thought, they did it constantly during the Trump presidency - but then pretend to be utterly outraged if someone on the Right does the same thing.

People on the Left become very, very nervous when the true nature of fascism, totalitarianism, or authoritarianism is discussed. They insist those things must be reflexively viewed as the antithesis of their ideology, without any further discussion or contemplation.

Of course, in Gina Carano's case, they were looking for an excuse to get rid of her for defying militant transgender ideology, so there's a lot of rank opportunism here. As noted, her oppressors interpreted what she posted in a way that no sane person would.

But the lunacy makes a bit more sense if you realize it's based on the idea that fascism, Nazism, and anti-Semitism must be always and forever viewed as purely sins of the Right. Accusing the Left of any of those things, even by tangential implication, cannot be tolerated.

Meanwhile, out here in the real world, fascism is very much back in style - it's becoming the dominant ideology of the entire world - and it is absolutely and purely an ideology of the Left. You are not allowed to notice that, especially if you're popular. /end
