I want to talk a little bit about Tessica Brown and some of the responses I'm seeing, more in general comments and less in people I follow. This video sums up a lot of what I'm thinking, but I have a few more things to add. 1/
As a burlesque performer, and having worked with drag and circus performers, we do some REALLY stupid shit for the stage. I've used some pretty intense glue for my pasties because I don't want them falling off in a performance. 2/
I've used craft glitter in my make up (not any more, but still). Go watch episodes of #RUPAULSDRAGRACE
and you'll see queens hot gluing stuff to themselves in past episodes, in addition to the glitter and the wig glue used for eyelashes (they don't tell you that). 3/

and this is JUST for performances. I can't imagine what I'd do if walking around in my own skin and hair was seen as bad in our society. I don't have to deal with that. Tessica does. I'm not saying she's not responsible for her actions. I'm saying that there's more to this. 4/
Lastly, a LOT of shit I see about her (the lawsuit, post doc stuff) seems to be coming from TMZ. Everyone's up in arms about how Britney Spears has been treated, but we're still taking stuff TMZ says at face value, without looking into it. When you know better, you do better. 5/
Also, the go fund me? We're in the middle of a pandemic, and it seems that her kids are being affected. Yeah, she might have started it as a hope to get some wigs while her hair grew back, but at this stage, while she's an international hashtag, I say, get that money. 6/
Same thing with the manager and stuff. Y'all want to hear from her and are sharing stuff from TMZ, but her hiring someone to manage that is somehow bad? As long as the manager isn't cheating her, go for it. 7/
Same thing when every viral tweet posts a link to that galaxy lamp. A lot of people want to go viral, and we love to see them go viral, but then we shit on them for what happens after. 8/
I also have, on more than one occasion, glued my little Carriage into a coffee cup (no, not exactly like how you're thinking but, still, I wanted it to stay on for a show) so again... I don't feel like I can judge.
