I didn't really want to give attention since things have been going so well recently, but since I'm doing exactly nothing this Chinese New Year's eve, I will talk about DC and the smears that the antis have been spreading the past 7 days

DC was meant to be an online only drama, no one expected it to be anything more, but it got onto CCTV8, the state media, this is alr an amazing feat, the last time a fantasy drama was on CCTV was back in 2005, China has been clamping down on fantasy and period dramas for yrs

The airing time of noon is unusual, but CCTV is clearly giving the drama a lot of attention thru various promotion via Weibo, WeChat and even printed newspaper, and they increased the frequency of ep release due to the positive reception, it's an important drama to CCTV

TV ratings and views take a nosedive during CNY period as people are busy with families and celebrating the new year, take a look at all the other current airing dramas, all of them suffered a massive dip in views and heat indexes, DC taking a hit is perfectly normal as well

The true sign of a flop drama is one that no one talks about, if a drama is dominating the SNSes with discussions abt the storyline & characters, it already won half the battle, one has to watch to be able to discuss, a hit drama is one that inspires pple to discuss and watch

Those who are crying that the drama is not true to the novel or animation, my reply is "who cares?"
DC was not filmed to please the novel or animation fans, it's meant to bring the story to a wider audience via drama adaptation, most viewers are not fans of the original
