So, a right-wing think-tank claims the NHS has been “nothing special” during this unprecedented global pandemic.

The Institute of Economic Affairs, also claim it’s a “myth” to say the NHS performed well and we have “no reason to be grateful” for its existence.

Nonsense. 1/8
This think-tank counts Tory Peers and Tory donors on its board.

These selfish, utterly fucking clueless individuals have their own profit-driven agenda.

They deny the pandemic has exposed the consequences of ideological austerity.

But it clearly has. 2/8
They are as qualified to offer their offensive and wholly inaccurate thoughts on *our* NHS as I am to offer my thoughts on the theory of evolution.

And as for “nothing special”, where do you even begin to start with this ludicrous hogwash? 3/8
There’s something special about a person who is willing to risk their own wellbeing for the health of a stranger. This applies to all of our emergency services.

There’s something special about an ICU nurse that will sit with a patient during their final minutes. 4/8
There’s something special about the dedication of the NHS.

While lots of people are whining about their summer holiday our hospitals still have more Covid patients than during the first peak and NHS workers are continuing to perform miracles. 5/8
I’ve never known a nurse who wants to be a hero, they do not ask for our adulation.

They receive our adulation because they have touched the lives of most of us at some point.

I don’t know anyone who isn’t grateful for everything the NHS does for us. 6/8
Perhaps the Institute for Tory Cronies want to turn up at an ICU & demonstrate to the staff how they would do things better?

They don’t ask for claps, but they do deserve our gratitude for the extraordinary achievement of keeping it together during this horrendous pandemic. 7/8
Thank you NHS, for everything you have done, everything you do, and everything you will keep doing, despite the sniping of a small number of private healthcare advocates.

You will always be our national treasure.
