Abortion is not women’s empowerment [thread]
there’s differences between men and women’s biology *shocking* I know.

one important difference is that women can get pregnant ~ shocking ~
modern feminism has hidden under the language of “equality” but what exactly does that mean for women? and is true equality even possible or something we should want?
essentially we’re being told that we can act like men, and when it comes to sex we can have sex consequence free - just like men (well, the worst kind of men)
So we’re given pills and shots and IUDs in order to change our biology from working the way it’s supposed to.
and if artificially inhibiting your natural biology doesn’t work and you become pregnant? you’re encouraged to pay a doctor money (you probably don’t have) to have that doctor kill your child - and potentially hurt you.
This doesn’t sound at all empowering to me. Or equal. The man gets to have MORE consequence free sex while you are depressed and gaining weight because of your birth control.
The man gets to have MORE consequence free sex while you lie on a table and have a doctor scrape our your uterus while a medical assistant in the other room puts the pieces of your baby back together.
You’ll scream in the streets about women’s rights but how many women sit alone and frightened in clinics? How many women get left by deadbeat men who only wanted them for what their body could provide?
It’s not empowering to fight your own biology to be sexually available to men who don’t care about you.
Feminism should be about embracing the feminine: not labeling everything that makes us different as lesser. Women’s empowerment should be about being a woman, embracing womanhood - not doing everything in our power to be like men.
