There’s been signs all season (and before) pointing or foreshadowing Sargent Jay, which is where I think his SL, besides #Upstead, is heading. Here’s the clues I’ve seen. Add your own at the end if you’ve noticed others #ChicagoPD
1. In episode 8.04, in the bullpen scene, we saw both Kim and Kev look towards Jay to get the nod to continue to present evidence to Voight over his friend’s murder. They look to him as the leader for the unit under Voight. #ChicagoPD
2. In episode 8.05 at the house, Kim waited for Jay/Hailey at the house before searching the crime scene. Once Jay gave the word all 3 of them started their search. Another leading moment. #ChicagoPD
3. In this recent ep there was a few signs. To start the episode, Jay was in charge of what went down. Yes it was his CI’s intel, but once they got to the place after following the guy Jay stated what the plan was and how they were going to enter/guard the building #ChicagoPD
4. When Jay and Hailey met with Durham and Jay referred to the fact that guy will soon become Sargent Durham. Just a little foreshadowing there. #ChicagoPD
5. While Jay went downstairs and talked to Latrell on the wall you see the sign for the “Sargent Exam”. It’s literally a “sign” in all senses lol. #ChicagoPD
6. When you have Jay talking to Voight in the office had the most moments to me. First, you have the placement of them in the room. It’s not a huge thing and I could be reading into it but I’ve seen others talk about it as well. #ChicagoPD
7. This “choice” conversation with Voight. It was more than just that. It was a Voight making Jay figure himself out. Giving Jay the moment to think about him as a cop and his personal morals.When Jay asked what he would do Hank brushed off and said how they are diff #ChicagoPD
Later when Jay becomes a Sargent, he will be figuring it out on his own. He gave Jay the space to grow and wanted to feel out what kind of cop/man Jay would be in that position. #ChicagoPD
At the end when you pan off to see Voight, I’ve felt there were many reasons for this moment. One thing I saw was a Voight proud/accepting/realizing look in his eye when he sees what Jay decided to do. Jay’s decision was based on his heart and who he is as a cop #ChicagoPD
Voight saw that even though Jay took this case personally & decided to not speak or turn in the evidence he knew to get Latrell caught. Jay was able to go with his heart and “let” Latrell get his justice, but also arrested him so “cop wise” he did what he needed to do #ChicagoPD
Voight was trying to get a read on what he would leave this unit with and I believe he was proud and realized he would be comfortable with Jay taking his place when the day comes. #ChicagoPD
We can’t for get ep 6x22 when Voight actually told him “the unit is going to be yours one day. Do it right”. At that time he didn’t think he would get to see if Jay could do it right. In this moment Voight was able to see how Jay would be #ChicagoPD
I’m sure there’s signs I’ve missed but I believe this is where his professional SL is heading bc we know personally they are building his SL w/ #Upstead. Any1 have thoughts? Other signs? You can tell me I’m crazy too lol #ChicagoPD @MeetUsatMollys @lizziethat @jesofthemidwest
