Been filming at an industrial estate not far from Ballymena. Head of Manufacturing NI tells us of significant problems especially with UK suppliers. Many simply not willing to supply goods to NI as a result of paperwork and complexity. Supply lines already being rerouted to EU.
NI industry source on then post-Brexit situation:"Coping is probably the best way of describing it. The fact it isn't mayhem is due to them and our colleagues in logistics working every hour god sends to keep things moving. Big changes coming in April that we aren't ready for..."
"...Plus over half of retail is closed and will be coming back then, change of seasons for a lot of retail and food service will be back there then too so it will definitely be challenging."
Says the UK govt gave absurdly little time to prepare which has caused genuine damage and huge cost. But source says: "EU need to get off their high horse and actually show they care about the people of Northern Ireland."Ie be more flexible on grace periods and easements to come.
