Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science!! To celebrate we are sharing five of the many incredible women in our department who inspire us with the amazing work they do 😊
@hollieboothie is a Graduate student researching mitigating shark fishing mortality through holistic fisheries management, focusing on Indonesia. She was in our recent grad video and we honestly understand her desire for EVERYONE to call her Dr Booth

Dr Lindsay Turnbull is one of our Plant Ecologists who you may know from her Back Garden Biology Podcast series, and she’s also an exceptionally caring tutor who prioritizes the wellbeing of her students just as much as their academic potential, which is invaluable!
Be sure to check out @Prokaryota, one of our superstar microbiologists. Elisa studies interactions between bacteria, and recently published a very cool paper on how bacteria display group behaviour to defend their colonies. Bonus content: many cat photos! http://elisagranato.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/GranatoFoster_CurrBiol_2020.mp4
@AnnetteFayet is part of the Animal Behaviour Research Group, studying Atlantic puffins and Manx shearwater. Keep your eyes peeled for some VERY cool seabird tracking studies coming soon, and make sure to follow her on Twitter for lots of cute puffin content!
@sara_lil_plants is one of our Plant Ecologists and one of the founding members of @BIPOC_STEM_NET. She was recently featured by @OxfordSparks in their video about the RainDrop Experiment at Wytham Woods
