Raghunandan Saran, a freedom fighter from Punjab, incorporated Ashok Motors in Chennai on September 7, 1948, as a company to assemble and manufacture Austin cars from England.

Instead of asking customers to pay upfront before delivering the vehicle, they were asked for payment only on delivery.

A tatkal scheme was introduced wherein if a vehicle broke down, Ashok Leyland promised to get to it in 4 hours and get it running within the next 48 hours.

Cabin repair centers have been started so that in the case of an accident, @ALIndiaOfficial actively works to minimize expenses by salvaging and rebuilding all that is possible.
