In #Kashmir, martyrs are made out of dead bodies, those who were nobodies in their lives were suddenly made into cult figures by vested interests. A trend that has been repeated numerous times now.

Be in Burhan or Maqbool, both were little known in their lifetime, but were manufactured into larger than life figures by our "friends" across the border.
#MaqboolButtTerrorist
A common thread between Maqbool Bhat, Burhan & many other unfortunate youths of #Kashmir is that, they never knew they were being played, they were just pawns in the grand scheme of things for #Pakistan. And even in their death they were adequately used by Pakistan.
Maqbool Bhat was hanged on 11 Feb 1984 for committing a double murder & for waging war against the nation. Before that he was a nobody in #Kashmir, for that matter, when Maqbool Bhat was executed, the event did not create a stir in Kashmir because he was not considered a hero.
Being young, he came under the devious spell of #Pakistan, generating anti-India propaganda & committing numerous crimes, including hijacking & murder. Little did he realise that Pakistan had no love lost for #Kashmir or its people; he was just a tool.

As he grew in his political life, he realised the snake in the grass that #Pakistan was. He soon started speaking against Pakistan & about liberating POK from Pakistan's clutches, thus becoming a liability of Pak Military. As a result he was tortured & forced to flee from Pakistan
Bhat committed numerous crimes, including murder of CID officer Amar Chand in 1966, hijacked Indian Airlines flight 101 in 1971, the abduction & murder of Indian diplomat Ravindra Mhatre in Birmingham. The cold blooded murder of Mr Mhatre was the last nail in the coffin for him.
On 03 Feb 1984, Ravindra Mhatre was abducted in Birmingham By JKLF, as he stepped out of a bus, carrying a birthday cake for his daughter Asha. He was held captive for 03 days, Mhatre's body was found 02 days later in a farm lane about 20 miles southeast of Birmingham.
JKLF claimed responsibility & demanded a ransom of 1 million pounds & the release of Maqbool Bhat. The #Indian diplomat was shot twice in cold blood, once in the head & once in the body.
Rightfully, Maqbool's pardon plea was rejected & within a week Bhat was hung in Tihar Jail.
Those who have made a fortune by politically exploiting Maqbool Bhat’s death have not stopped attempting to do so by reviving his memory to their advantage. For them 11 Feb is just another day, another excuse to instigate the people of #Kashmir.
#Kashmir needs to see through these propagandist games of #Pakistan & ensure that their youth do not become prey to Pakistan’s vicious propaganda & take the path chosen by Maqbool Bhat which led to his death & plunged his family into the depths of misery for no reason whatsoever.
