There's an unhealthy commitment to PR in SA politics that I am personally over. Politicians too interested in being seen than having their presence felt through their work. Thinking that being "of the people" simply means seeming as disheartened and powerless as the rest of us.
With so much time invested into Twitter campaigns and tweets that make them look one way of the other, you would swear they have a thriving economy and are running departments so well that they run themselves, when the truth is their portfolios are rudderless and work is limited.
Whole other parties are as guilty of this, the ANC particularly must either fire its communicators or redirect their efforts away from personal PR toward communicating policy, complex decisions, effective and innovative COVID19 messaging or greater responsiveness to communities
