I saw some senate Rs on the Budget Cmte were asking @neeratanden about rising national debt earlier today. It feels like they only ever care about debt when Democrats are in the White House, so I checked the receipts by typing "debt" into Twitter's advanced search function
Let’s start with @SenRonJohnson who’s up in 2022. Ronald has tweeted more about the national debt since Biden won the election than he did during the entire Trump administration!!! And 8x more during the Obama administration than the Trump administration
Next up, fellow soon-to-be ex-Senator @MarcoRubio. Marco tweeted about the national debt 59 times while Obama was in office. The Trump years? 7.
How about club-for-growth sponsored @SenToomey? He tweeted about the national debt 58 times while Obama was in office and only 4 times while Trump was in office
None of this is surprising. But it’s this kind of hypocritical malarkey that stands in the way of unity and progress
