weird to realize that labeling myself as non-binary but not trans was in itself a result of wrongly believing trans-ness had to exist within its own binary with a specific focus on medically transitioning. trying to do right and “not intrude” by not doing right.
i’ve done a lot of work since before coming out as non-binary to recognize that my understand of being trans was actually really biased by media portrayals. working thru it has helped me to truly understand that trans-ness & being non-binary does not have a look
anyways. i guess i’m saying that yeah, i’m nonbinary, and being non-binary means also trans.
many thanks to @TrevellAnderson’s piece for articulating and calling out so much of what i was struggling with. “gender is a scam,” indeed. https://xtramagazine.com/culture/what-does-non-binary-mean-194517
another really spectacular piece that articulates my heart and brain better than i can https://twitter.com/britnidlc/status/1359717741041750016
