do not be 'shocked' and frame it as a 'NEW RECORD' because that explains nothing about how we got here, or why this province specializes in mass poisonings

if we don't at least try to understand it, our social massacre will never end.

at the end of November 2020, there had been 1548 illicit drug toxicity deaths in BC. 367 of those were in Vancouver (23.7%).

tomorrow will be the 1,765th day of this public health emergency. you can say it was declared an emergency 57 months and 29 days ago. or that this has been an emergency for four years, nine months, and 29 days.
so don't be shocked and outraged and devastated because nothing was done and therefore nothing changed and linear time rolled on. do not say its a record

do not be surprised when the number of deaths that you have sanctioned with your indifference add up to a lot
all these people. who were they?

it is important to point out that they not all of them had what is called "a substance use disorder." death is death whether you use compulsively or once a year.
and not all of those who used compulsively had an "opioid use disorder." if your usual thing, your Drug of Choice (eg cocaine) was contaminated with fentanyl, you would die. as more than a few have.
they were people. who used drugs. and are gone. so say it nicer. https://twitter.com/APStylebook/status/1214228951331213312?s=20
i cannot bear the talk of "they were brothers, partners, daughters, friends" because human beings have value and dignity in themselves, not only through their relation to others.

people who use drugs are fully human in themselves while alive.
it is important to explain that this is not an opioid crisis.

it is also not an epidemic. it is an unnatural disaster, a social mass murder. https://free-futures-society.org/2021/02/04/its-not-an-opioid-crisis/
this has a history : these are the consequences of five hundred years of colonial racial capitalism, these are deaths by drug policy, and not only government, but saturating our everyday lives and every part of our world https://twitter.com/EmmaRai5/status/1359696430441484288?s=20
will anyone elected be there? BECAUSE THERE SHOULD BE
#bcpoli https://twitter.com/BCTodayOfficial/status/1359666325447004163?s=20
will anyone ask the elected government about these recommendations from the Coroners' Death Panel on Overdose from April 2018? BECAUSE THEY SHOULD
https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/birth-adoption-death-marriage-and-divorce/deaths/coroners-service/death-review-panel/bccs_illicit_drug_overdose_drp_report.pdf
will anyone ask how many inhalation sites are operating in the province? (this was released in june 2020)
https://www2.gov.bc.ca/assets/gov/birth-adoption-death-marriage-and-divorce/deaths/coroners-service/statistical/mode-of-consumption.pdf
this is from Mental Health & Addictions minister @s_malcolmson's mandate letter. will these actions end the Poisoning Emergency?
https://news.gov.bc.ca/files/MMHA-Malcolmson-mandate.pdf
we'll never know
so don't be all shocked that the numbers are so high that you wont find an elected member of government anywhere near this update.

not even in silent, respectful witness

thats how they're governing, after all
if the public isnt outraged by all of this, i'm starting to think its because they think theyre winning
