I have no insider information and am more or less unconnected politically, but here are my thoughts on Squiggy’s political demise:
1) He brought Harper’s strict leadership style to the UCP, but the old WR folks are having none of it;

2) Squiggy thought oil would come back as it always has. With O&G companies moving away from petroleum, Squiggy now looks hopelessly out of date, behind the times (more than usual) and staggeringly incompetent (more than usual);

3) Throw in a tragically abysmal and flip-flopping approach to COVID and his in efficacy as a leader is simply compounded.

Good organizer, good campaigner, good money-raiser, complete shit as a leader. #ableg
