13 years ago, my parents had to have a hard conversation with me about going to college. It was 2008, the market crashed, & scholarships I was counting on vanished overnight. On top of that, I wanted to major in film (lol). At 18, I did the unthinkable & took out 100,000 in loans
I went to UCLA, I lived at home, contemplated faking my own death after making 12hr after graduation. I paid 900 a month in fees. My parents were scared and had no money. But today, with some hard work & a lot of luck I've paid it all off!
And still, I want everyone's student debt to be forgiven, now and forever. I never want another kid to have to pick between doing what they love and years of crippling debt and anxiety. Faking your own death should be reserved solely for the novels we write and movies we make.
