I think a lot of people see Ryuji from P5 as an immature and rowdy young man. But I feel that overshadows how mature he can be. And I want to talk about that more in detail. I will be mentioning spoilers from P3 and P5.
Ryuji’s action affected a lot of people. His track teammates lose their team, and his mom, I think, has to deal with the fallout of his action with the school.
While one can understand why Ryuji does what he does, it doesn’t erase the people who were negatively impacted.
In his confidant, Ryuji reunites with his former track teammates and makes an effort to understand what they’re dealing with. Not only that, Ryuji goes out of his way to look out for them so that he can make amends.
Acknowledging your own mistake and taking responsibility for that is not easy, especially for a young teenager with a lot of pride like Ryuji.
Sometimes, I feel like audiences can be disappointed by young and realistic characters because so many anime characters are young but possess unrealistic physical, emotional, and intellectual attributes.
A good example of this is Yukari from P3. During the beginning of P3, she’s the emotional backbone of the game. By that, I mean that she’s the only one who reacts to the Dark Hour in a normal way.
Mitsuru and Akihiko are used to the Dark Hour. Junpei is living in a superhero fantasy. And the player has to go along with what’s happening or else the game can’t continue.
Yukari’s actions are pretty normal. She’s a teenage girl in a bad environment. On top of that, her father is gone and she’s estranged with her mother. Plus, in the guy’s route, the player can’t even get to know her until the midway point of the game.
So, to see people reduce and dismiss Yukari as an annoying bitch is sad.
I think that a meme or a joke of character can actually become the way people see a character. There’s nothing wrong with that I guess, but I do think it can paint a limited picture of a character or piece of media.
Anyway, this is why I like @VirgiliaLady videos. She does a good job of analyzing characters and explaining their behavior.
With that, I’m done with my tangent. Props if you actually read all that. I’ve got other tangents like why CS2 has some of the most interesting story moments in the CS arc and why Rean’s job says a lot about him. And I realize now that no one follows me on Twitter
. Oh well

I’ve got some thoughts on P3, P4, and P5 too. I promise they won’t be this long lol. So if you’re interested in that, maybe follow me
. Tbh it does bother more than it should that I’ve got 0 followers
