TV is phenomenon created by a team of creatives.
Joss Whedon being revealed to behave like a colossal dick should not diminish your love of Buffy, Angel and Firefly, but it should focus your attention on other amazing humans who helped make the shows.
We have a problem with the concept of the auteur in our culture.
Joss was pushed up as the sole hero of creating the shows. But amazing writers and producers like Marti Noxton, Jane Espenson, Dave Greenwalt (and too many to list in a tweet) get passed over for their contribution
Remember, Angel wasn't planned to be a vampire until the team where discussing the kiss scene. Faith was created by Dave based on Electra. Marti pushed for LGBTIQA relationships to be normalised (she has two moms) so the whole Willow/Tara thing came about.
Yes, the two most astounding episodes... Hush and The Body were Joss. He is a powerful talent.

But the team make the project.
Spike was supposed to be a minor villain and be killed off.

Faith was supposed to hang herself three episodes in.

Spike and Dru being based on Sid and Nancy came from the actors.
My point is that a lot of what you attribute to a single man is actually the creative force of a team.

So yeah, as much as I love the end results, I am not too bruised by the revelations.

I stand with Charisma Carpenter.
Enjoy your fandoms. Be careful about worshipping mere humans.
