first off i’ll start with explaining what slurs are used against us and what they mean / who can reclaim them.

spic is a slur towards hispanic people & it comes from mocking the way hispanics pronounce the word “speak” in english with a spanish accent, any hispanic person can reclaim this.

beaner is a slur only MEXICANS can reclaim, it comes from the term “bean-eater” and also refers to how beans are common in mexican cuisine. these slurs have history behind them just like any others so when we tell you don’t say them if you can’t reclaim them, don’t say them.

moving on to mexican accents, ever since quackity did the mexican dream character i see a lot of non-mexicans trying to impersonate him. quackity made that character based off harmful stereotypes of mexicans which is okay for HIM to do as a mexican, but not anyone else.

now let’s talk about spanish/spanish streams. spanish is a beautiful language but a lot of us are unable to speak it freely in public because of how people judge us for it, so when quackity does a spanish stream it makes a lot of us feel at home & english speakers shouldn’t 1/2

complain about not understanding because not only do y’all get every stream in english but y’all shouldn’t be telling quackity him speaking in his language is inconvenient to you. you want to understand the spanish streams? learn spanish or follow someone who translates. 2/2

when we tell you something makes us uncomfortable, listen to us. i’ve dmed or replied to so many people telling them not to say a slur or make a certain joke and got a block instead of an apology. stop speaking over us and listen to what we are trying to say please.

going back to making jokes, just because you watch quackity does not give you the excuse to make the same jokes he makes. you need to know your place as a non-hispanic and / or non-mexican person when making jokes based off harmful stereotypes towards us.

now talking about the recent situation of drawing ccs darker than they are, artists please listen when i say i want representation just as much as you do but changing a ccs skin tone is not the way to get it. 1/2

draw a poc cc or add stuff like flags / clothing / etc to white ccs if you want to give us representation but i’m begging y’all to stop drawing these white ccs as poc when they aren’t. 2/2

another thing to add on to accents/spanish, mocking us was never and will never be funny. i know a lot of people make fun of quackity for pronouncing things like “Among us” wrong and HE may be okay with that but please realize others aren’t & that shit is so disrespectful to do.
