Robert John Bardo was a young man who was known by friends and family as someone who would become obsessed with female actresses, to the point he would make shrines of them. At this point in time stalking was not a crime. His first obsession known to us was a young (1)
(2) peace activist Samantha Smith who was killed in a plane crash. Weeks later he was watching TV and noticed Rebecca Schaeffer who was a young actress/model who starred in the show “My sister Sam” in 1986. He was obsessed with her character, so he wrote her a letter and sent
(3) it to her, hoping to make her fall in love with him. Rebecca saw this letter and wrote back “Yours is one of the best fan letters I have yet to receive” which she actually said to all her fans. He decided that meant he had a chance, so he hired a private detective to obtain
(4) Rebecca’s address. He continued to stalk her for 3 years, until July 18th 1989 when he decided to confront her, angry that she had appeared in a sex scene in a film. In his eyes she had lost her “innocence” and became “another Hollywood whore.” He visited her apartment and
(5) told Rebecca has a big fan of her. She was nice enough, but told him to not return. That angered him even more, but he did leave. He thought she would fall in love with him the moment she saw him, not turn him away. He went to a diner, then later returned to Rebecca’s home
(6) she opened the door, and he shoot her twice in the chest. He was considering killing himself as well, like a Romeo and Juliette type, instead he decided to run. Robert was later arrested walking aimlessly in traffic. During his trial he said the “U2” song “exit” was an
(7) influenced the murder. While he murdered Rebecca he was actually carrying a copy of the book “catcher in the rye,” which people believe he was emulating Mark Chapman who had carried the same book when he murdered John Lennon. Robert said it was just coincidental.
(8) Because of the murder of Rebecca Schaeffer, a new law was made to make stalking illegal. At least the unfortunate circumstances of her death would later help millions of people from experiencing the same fate due to this new law.

Jodi Arias was a young woman who’s parents described as a very verbally abusive and possibly had some personality disorder that made her go from happy to very angry very quickly. In 2006 she started a new job, during a convention she met Travis Alexander.
(2) Everyone who saw them said there was an INSTANT connection, they left the convention and stayed up until 4 am talking about life and how they would love to spend the rest of their lives together. They lived in different cities, so they leave and continue on their own ways
(3) creating a long distance relationship. He gave her an ultimatum basically saying that he couldn’t be with her if she wasn’t a Mormon. Jodi got involved with the church and got baptized by Travis. They still “gave into temptation” and had sexual relations. Travis said to
(4) friends that he was “addicted” to Jodi. Over the course of their relationship Travis’ friends had let him know that Jodi was a little too obsessed with him. She would literally follow him to the bathroom and wait outside the door until he was done, if he was on the phone she
(5) had to know exactly who he was talking to. She would check texts, emails, hack his MySpace. Travis’ friends told him that they had noticed that and they believed she was dangerous. As they had this conversation, one of Travis’ friends in the room said
(6) while whispering so Jodi couldn’t hear “I bet you she’s standing outside the door and listening to our conversation right now,” so Travis sneaked to the door and opened it to fine that his friend was right. There was Jodi, standing and listening to their conversation.
(7) Travis’ friends confronted Jodi and told her that they think she’s too controlling and that it’s best if they split ways. Jodi didn’t care what Travis’ friends said, she only cared about what Travis thought. Travis broke up with Jodi... but that didn’t stop Jodi.
(8) Jodi continues to email him but Travis wasn’t giving. Jodi could no longer afford her home, so she moved to the state Travis lived in TEN minutes away from Travis... never told him though, but she told her parents that she was moving there to get married to Travis
(9) Jodi goes over to Travis house one day to let him know she lived down the street, but once she looked through his window she saw that he was with another woman. She left and then hacked into Travis’ social media’s to harass his new gf
(10) She even went to the lengths of slashing Travis’ tires every single time he went to his new gf’s house, to the point she broke up with him cause she couldn’t handle it.
(11) Jodi starts a relationship with another man that also works for the same company as her and Travis. On June 2nd they make plans for Jodi to go visit him, so she rents a car to go to Utah from California (11hr drive). She leaves June 3rd and is meant to get there June 4th but
(12) didn’t arrive until June 5th. During her entire trip to visit her new love interest she was calling and texting Travis the entire time. On the night of the murder she even sent him a voicemail rambling about how she’s on her way to Utah and how she’s driven accidentally
(13) driven the wrong way 100 mins the wrong way. When Jodi returns the car there was no car mats and a “kool-aid” stain on the seats. By June 9th no one had heard from Travis in a while, which was specifically weird since he was scheduled to go to Cancun Mexico on a trip with
(14) a new love interest named Mimi. Mimi and Travis’ friends got in contact with each other to see if anyone had heard anything, but they didn’t which was very unlike Travis, so they all decided to head over to his house to see what is going on.. they know his garage code and
(15) accessed the house with it. They go in and notice Travis room is locked so Travis’ roommate gets the spare key, they open up the door and smell something incredibly foul. They go in the room and see blood everywhere, they find Travis in a fetal position, naked in the shower
(16) they call the police and once they arrive the police asks “who could have done this to him,” and they all say the same name. Jodi. Looking into the crime scene the police knew it was a crime of passion. There was blood everywhere and Travis was stabbed a total of 27 times,
(17) his throat was slashed from ear to ear and he was also shot in the head. It was determined that Travis was murdered on June 4th 2008. Her obsession with Travis didn’t stop there though, because she ended up showing up to his funeral that she was not invited to considering
(18) all of Travis friends hated her and knew she was responsible. Back to the crime scene though, they found a black camera in the washing machine of Travis house, they take it in for evidence and it’s basically a few pictures of Travis posing in the nude taken by someone else
(19) as they flip through the photos and see Jodi naked on Travis bed. All the photos were time stamped, meaning the police knew exactly what day and minute these were taken. June 4th 2008. The next set of pictures were of Travis’ naked and lifeless body
