Hi - this is just an occasional reminder that the @UFT purposely sabotaged the hybrid model by refusing to have livestreaming be part of their contract, which manufactured a fake "staffing crisis", all with the intent of pushing parents to remote. It was no accident. https://twitter.com/angrybklynmom/status/1359623458548768772
When you wonder why it appears that many families chose remote in NYC, please understand that classes are crowded & many schools were on 3 cohorts. This means 1-2 days/wk onsite & the rest remote.
The original intent was that all hybrid cohort would have synchronous learning on the remote days, accomplished through live streaming. Our District Superintendent even went as far as to gleefully announce this to our district.
When the @UFT and @NYCSchools could not reach an agreement, they then suddenly had a "staffing crisis" because there were not enough Teachers to teach the hybrid students on their remote days.
So this meant that kids who would only have 1 day in-person on a particular week would spend the OTHER 4 DAYS in asynchronous mode, meaning no contact with a Teacher. Just worksheets & videos.
This was determined in SEPTEMBER, when it was already too late for many parents to leave the system.

This is partially why you see an increase in the # of kids who went remote. Hybrid was literally 1-2 days in person w/ 70% of your time self-taught.
This is why I am saying that Hybrid is not school. DO NOT SETTLE FOR IT.

Teachers hate it, kids hate it. https://twitter.com/angrybklynmom/status/1354796556826849281
Here was Mulgrew telling his people in August that they wouldn't have to livestream. But the DOE was holding out hope, as they always do. https://twitter.com/angrybklynmom/status/1359622200811225096?s=20
