It's not rocket science- we now love Nick Kyrgios because he has changed (1) in terms of who he directs outbursts at and (2) he tries harder rather than giving up. #AusOpen

I remember Kyrgios in 2015 shouting at a young family for leaving his 5 set win against Seppi at end of a game but not change of ends. That's old Nick - punching down. Stoppy at fans and/or the media.

New Nick punches up- at Djokovic for partying shirtless in a pandemic, the sense of entitlement of those complaining about hotel quarantine.

Old Nick used to give up when he had an injury or wasn't in the mood. New Nick keeps trying. And when he tries he often wins. Who wouldn't rather watch a 5 set epic like against Umbert instead of a walkover?

I agree with @oz_f there was a racial element to criticism especially Dawn Fraser comments. He has overcome that, sadly not because Aus public is less racist but because his conduct has improved.
