An observation: what Joss Whedon did with the character of Cordelia Chase was bad writing. It made no dramatic sense. It only makes sense as a petty, abusive punishment for Charisma Carpenter. The "brilliant creative" excuse shouldn't fly ANYWAY, but also: abuse made bad art.
It makes me wonder about some of the other weird decisions in his work. How much was petty, controlling stuff written in because someone crossed him. How many of his creative decisions were made in order to groom or punish.
And the worst is: how many of his victims had their own creative careers stifled thanks to him, directly or indirectly, because of abuse? How many opportunities did he suck up that some other, non-abusive creator could have had? So much wasted opportunity, so many affected lives.
