New on the Oregon sports front: Gov. Kate Brown has announced that the OHA is revising guidance for high school and lower-division college sports, paving the way for all sports to return with increased health and safety protocols.
Outdoor contact sports at the high school level can resume this week, based on county COVID risk levels, with health and safety protocols (including coronavirus testing).
Also, D2, D3 and NAIA schools can submit health and safety plans to earn exemptions to play.
But ... lower-division schools will have to "meet the same rigorous standards that Oregon’s Division 1 programs have met before they will be permitted to resume full activities," Brown says.
Also, regarding prep sports ... schools in extreme-and high-risk counties must have "at least limited in-person instruction occurring, with the goal of achieving hybrid or full in-person instruction," as well as a slew of testing, contract tracing and quarantine protocols.
